Thinking about the Easter weekend? We don't blame you. 3-6 April 2026 brings with it a double bank holiday, meaning four sweet days away from work for lots of us. Add to that the excuse to eat as much chocolate as you can stomach, plus longer days, blossom, blooms and outdoorsy activities to enjoy. It's the perfect time to kick off your spring adventures.
If you've got kids in your life, Easter also equals two or more glorious weeks off school for day trips and family time. It also means you need plenty of ideas to keep everyone busy for the Easter school holidays, which run from Saturday 28 March to Sunday 12 April 2026 in Hampshire, and we've got ideas for you on that front too.

A long weekend in Winchester is the ideal time to delve into the city's history by visiting Winchester Cathedral, The Great Hall or Winchester City Museum.
If we're lucky enough to get blue skies over Easter, you could make the most of the city's green spaces by climbing St Catherine's Hill, exploring city centre nature reserve Winnall Moors or by heading out on one of the many walking routes that run through or close to the city. You could even venture into the South Downs National Park for a springtime stroll, or set off on your next big hike. The South Downs Way starts in central Winchester after all.
For Easter treats, pop into the city's many gift shops, or browse Winchester's Street Markets. Just don't forget to visit Winchester district's market town - Alresford, Wickham and Bishop's Waltham - to discover charming independents, hidden gems and more outdoorsy opportunities to enjoy Easter in Winchester.
