An ancient site with stunning views of the surrounding downs and the coastline in the distance, Old Winchester Hill is 150 acres of nature reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest, made up of chalk grassland.
The area is teeming with wildlife, and a popular place for bird spotting. Visitors will discover evidence of an Iron Age hill fort and the earlier Bronze Age barrows or burial mounds at the top of the hill. Old Winchester Hill is also a Dark Sky Discovery Site, meaning it's a protected spot for stargazing.
Need to know: There are two small car parks on Old Winchester Hill Lane, one of which is reserved for disabled parking, close to an accessible route into the nature reserve. There are no facilities at Old Winchester Hill.
