Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information about this website's accessibility

Visit Winchester is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) version 2.2 AA standard, due to the following non-compliances listed in the section below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

  • There are advertisements present on the website, which may contain images of text, these images will have alt text assigned.
  • Some documents are in PDF format and are not accessible in a number of ways. PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 are out of scope of the regulations and are not fully accessible to screen reader software.
  • At 400% zoom in 320 x 256 pixel view, there is a recognised reflow issue, where content does not scroll as it should.
  • CookieBot provides the cookie consent banner and management. Visit Winchester host this on the website, however cannot
amend how the cookie banner is presented.
  • There are category labels on cards which are smaller than the recommended 24px size. Due to the size of the card
    component, these cannot be increased.

Disproportionate burden

We have determined that there is disproportionate burden to meet all the requirements for the following reasons:

  • Making improvements would exceed budget for the year and leave the department unable to do other work - and would not significantly improve things for disabled users.
What we're doing to improve accessibility

We have an ongoing commitment to continue to evaluate this website and, where appropriate, introduce fixes to the required standards or update this accessibility statement if there are areas of non-compliance. If you have any issues please contact us on visitwinchester@winchester.gov.uk.
