Hambledon Wine Estate
Considered the birthplace of English wine, Hambledon Vineyard was established in 1952. These days you can visit the vineyard, which is set inside the South Downs National Park, to sample their award-winning sparkling wines on regularly-run vineyard and winery tours or guided wine tastings. You can also book onto a behind-the-scenes safari experience around the vineyard, or enjoy a meal at their stunning on-site restaurant.

The Grange
Explore The Grange's rural vineyard on the outskirts of Alresford, where they make their award-winning still and sparkling tipples. You can book onto tours and tastings every Saturday, or on Thursday evenings when you're invited to hang around afterwards for Thursday Lates at the tasting room, with food trucks and music. Keep an eye out for Evening Canapés tours where a tour and tasting concludes with wine and nibbles.

Black Chalk Vineyard and Winery
Black Chalk launched their first wines in 2018. Their vineyard, in the Test Valley near Winchester, is home to a winery and tasting room. Book onto tours and tastings, or a tour and tasting with lunch. They run Friday - Sunday year-round. You can also drop by for a drink, lunch or sparkling afternoon tea at The Tasting Room. Look out for events like their Vine and Vinyl nights or Friday Night Lates at the vineyard with local street food trucks.

Raimes
Growing classic Champagne grapes in the South Downs National Park, Raimes vineyard is open to visitors every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can swing by without a booking for wine tasting flights and wine by the glass and bottle at their Tasting Barn in the vineyard. Or, to find out more about the vineyard and the wines that are grown here, you can book onto 90-minute guided tours with tastings. Sparkling cream teas are available on Sundays.

Hattingley Valley
Hattingley Valley, set in countryside near the market town of Alresford, started as a farm diversification project in 2008 and has now turned into one of the UK's leading wineries. You can go behind the scenes of the winery on a guided tour, followed by a wine tasting. They run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and must be pre-booked. You can arrange a private tour if you'd also like to wander the vines, which are about 2 miles away from the winery.

Exton Park Vineyard
Premium English sparkling has been produced here on Exton Park's South Downs vineyard since 2009. Discover the 60-acre vineyard on a guided tour and tasting, where you get to go behind the scenes at the vineyard and winery before finishing up with a tasting at Exton Hall. These tours run on Fridays and selected Saturdays. You can also book onto special tours that end with a seasonal buffet-style lunch.

Louis Pommery
On select dates, you can book tours of pretty vines just outside the market town of Alresford before being guided through a tasting in atmospheric Pinglestone Barn at the Louis Pommery vineyard.

Danebury Vineyard
Award-winning still and sparkling wines are produced on this small wine estate near Winchester. You can explore the vineyards, sample wines in the tasting room and discover their underground chalk cellar on select dates. Danebury Vineyard is open for tours one Friday a month in spring and summer 2026.

Quob Park
Visitors can book onto tours of Quob Park's Hampshire vineyard to be guided around the vines, winery and cellar. Tours finish a tasting of three of Quob's English wines.

🍇 Other local vineyards and wines
This vineyard on a regenerative farm in the Candover Valley produces English sparkling. It's not open to the public for regular tours, but you can explore the vineyard as part of Grape & Grain tours.
Set just outside of Winchester city, Chilcomb Valley produces award-winning sparkling wines. The vineyard isn't currently open to the public for tours.
While not regularly open to the public, Northbrook Vineyard near Bishop's Waltham does sometimes run tours and events so check their website.
With vineyards in Twyford and Bishop's Waltham, Longdown is another new local wine brand. While they are not open to the public for tours currently, they hope to be in the future.
Another new vineyard, Woodman Wines, which is in Sparsholt, just outside of Winchester city, will be bringing in their first harvest this year. You can't usually visit the vineyard but you can book a ticket to join in with the harvest in September 2026.

If you're looking to stock up on local English wine while you're in Winchester, visit Kingsgate Wine & Provisions. It's a shop and deli in pretty Kingsgate Village, which is in Winchester city centre, that sells a range of local wines and treats.
