To mark Independent Business Month, our style ambassador Lauren Booth, AKA @AWinchesterWoman takes us on a tour of her favourite Winchester boutiques…

VOGUE has dubbed stripes as ‘effortlessly chic’ for 2023. Not only are stripes ‘in’ this year, but you can have confidence knowing they’re not a fad trend. So when you buy stripes, you’re investing in your future summer wardrobes too.

The good news is, there’s plenty of independent boutiques that stock stripes in Winchester.

If you’re on a budget (like me), Mint Tea Boutique have the ‘Selected Femme Ivy’ dress for just £30, a great staple for your wardrobe which you can dress up and down. If you’re looking to treat yourself, head to Sass & Edge to try on the ‘Amelia Dress Cino Stripe’ at £228, or Pavilion for the IBLUES Sibari Striped Pink and White Fit and Flare Dress at £199.

Don’t forget to pop into the Charity shops, one of my favourites is Naomi House & Jacksplace, I bought a stunning Warehouse green and white striped dress for just £7.50. My fiancé has bought a few men’s Ralph Lauren shirts from there too, for under £10.

Another trend for 2023 is small hoop earrings; My favourite jewellers (possibly, in the world!) is Jeremy France Jewellers and I’m obsessed with these Silver Gold Plated Sleepy Jean Small Hoop Earrings (£40)H&B Style is another great store for affordable jewellery (I love these Gold Glimmer Earrings (£32)), as well as men’s/women’s fashion and homewares.

Head 10 minutes East of Winchester to a picturesque village called Alresford to explore their impressive selection of independent boutiques and shops, my favourites include RoxtonsHêtreInterior Style and Handmade Rugs.
