Winchester pubs, bars and restaurants raise a glass at the Best Bar None Awards 2023, to celebrate a safer night-time economy in the city.
Pubs, bars and restaurants in the city have celebrated the seventh Winchester Best Bar None Awards which took place on Wednesday 6 September 2023 at Winchester Cathedral’s Paul Woodhouse Suite. 11 venues took part in the Winchester Best Bar None assessment scheme with all of them achieving accreditation status. Each venue that entered the scheme was required to meet the national accreditation’s criteria.
The national accreditation scheme runs in cities and towns around the country and is an opportunity for local pubs, bars and restaurants to be recognised for keeping standards high and creating a safer environment for revellers in the city. A national Best Bar None judging system then assesses and accredits the score received by each venue. It was recognised that the participating venues achieved a very high standard this year.
With 11 local venues achieving accreditation status, there were six silver awards accredited to The Bishop on the Bridge, The County Arms, The Old Gaolhouse, Pitcher and Piano, The Royal Oak and The William Walker. Five gold accredited awards went to Alfies, The Eclipse Inn, The Mucky Duck, O’Neill’s and The Westgate.
Gold Accredited Best Independent was awarded to The Eclipse Inn.
Gold Accredited Venue Overall Runner Up was awarded to The Westgate
Gold Accredited Venue Overall Winner was awarded to O’Neill’s.
