Looking for things to do in Winchester during March 2026? From Shakespeare plays to celebrations of sound, here's what's on in Winchester this month.

March officially marks the start of spring in Winchester. You can finally say goodbye to your big coat (if you're feeling brave, that is) and embrace all things light, bright and blossomy. We've got spring blooms popping up all around the district, as well as longer days to get outside and enjoy them. You might even get to enjoy your first alfresco meal of 2026 this month. Though you'll probably want to get the big coat back out again for that one...

March 2026 in Winchester is one action-packed month, thanks to a whole host of seasonal events, from Six Nations screenings to Mother's Day events and the start of the school Easter holidays (Saturday 28 March - Sunday 12 April 2026). We've also got Sound Winchester 2026 and RAW, Winchester's contemporary performance week, to add to the mix, alongside Easter egg hunts, afternoon teas, murder mysteries and celebrations of spring.

Read on for all the best events, new openings and fun things to do in Winchester in March 2026.

Celebrate World Book Day 2026 in Winchester

World Book Day is Thursday 5 March and Winchester is a great spot to celebrate it. We've got great atmospheric bookshops to explore, from historic P&G Wells to the Deanery Bookstall and The Winchester Bookshop for second-hand reads. The city also has more than it's fair share of literary connections - why not explore the city on Jane Austen's Winchester trail, or wander the Keats Trail? Elsewhere, the Library at The Gurkha Museum, which is home to more than 3,500 volumes on Gurkha heritage, is opening for a World Book Day event. All of which will help get you in the mood for the annual Winchester Books Festival in April, too!
