There's staying in the heart of historic Winchester, and then there is this. A new opportunity to stay inside Winchester Cathedral's inner close, in a historic building with impressive views
Winchester Cathedral's Deanery, an ancient part of the Cathedral's Inner Close which dates back to the sixteenth century, is now available to book for overnight stays.
Book a break here and you'll be able to enjoy incredible views of the Cathedral from a different perspective, as well as the surreal experience of snoozing behind the Inner Close's imposing locked gates at night.
The historic space sleeps 10, with 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a sizeable private garden which runs down to the river. Visitors will also get use of their own 70-foot long gallery, originally created to entertain Charles II of England.

The Deanery is rich in history and heritage - there's a Roman mosaic in the porch and a number of historic artefacts inside its walls too - but the rental has been recently decorated and furnished with the help of lots of local Hampshire businesses, such as the River Test distillery, Orchid Furniture, Mayfly Vintage and Andrew Smith & Son in Alresford.
"This is a quintessential British home that has been brought bang up to date with the support of many valued suppliers. Renting the Deanery is a one-of-a-kind opportunity and we look forward to welcoming families to enjoy its tranquil and beautiful setting," says Alasdair Akass, Director of Development at Winchester Cathedral.

It's the first time the Deanery has ever been available to book for holidays and overnight stays, and the opportunity to stay here is unfortunately also short lived. You'll only be able to stay here until the new Dean takes up residence in the building next year.
A stay here starts at £4,500 per week (3-night minimum). Find out more or book here.
