About Workshop: Indian Woodblock Printing

In this hands-on workshop, explore the heritage craft of Indian Woodblock printing and immerse yourself in pattern-making, under the guidance of textile designer and maker Clare Walsh.

You will begin by learning about the history of the craft and its influence in British fabric and wallpaper design, examining examples, before moving on to create your own designs using Clare’s collection of over 100 authentic Indian wood blocks!

You’ll come home with your own block-printed cotton bag or tea towel.

After the workshop, enjoy a twilight tour of Jane Austen’s House, including an opportunity to see textile items including the Patchwork Coverlet worked by the Austen women.

Clare Walsh is a textile designer, maker and tutor based in Somerset. She combines extensive teaching experience with a love of printed textiles and a passion for colour and texture.

Tickets: £55
