Field Marshal Lord Kitchener - an evening talk

Field Marshal Lord Kitchener is familiar to us all from the First World War Recruiting Poster. What is less known is his remarkable career, from 2Lt in the Royal Engineers, surveying Palestine and Cyprus, to a talented leader of colonial native troops in the Middle East, to his role as Commander at Omdurman, and as the eventual victor of the Boer War. His achievements in raising the New Model Army, from a standing start, in 1914/1915 has not been equalled, and bears study today as the prospect of expanding the Armed Forces looms.
