Feel your senses come alive as you venture into an enormous 10m long guitar and feel the vibrations of your friends and family plucking the strings, take a journey into the wonders of acoustics in the sonic rocket, climb inside a giant ear, make your own sounds with the echo tubes, try your hand at British Sign Language and much, much more.
Experience explosive experiments in the science centre’s brand new demo area. Taking place throughout the day families can discover fire, ice and explosions and much more on a massive scale.
Be inspired by nature during your visit and have a go at the challenges in the brand new inside/outside nature-based experimentation zone – inspired by the centre’s stunning location in the tranquil South Downs National Park.
While exploring the sound, hearing and vibration exhibition be sure to grab a bite to eat or a refreshing drink at the café or escape the hustle and bustle in the recombobulation room.

The Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium has been awarded the Visit Britain’s Good to Go mark. Face masks need to be worn during your visit (with the exception of children under 11 years old and anyone with a disability or medical condition that prevents them from wearing a face covering) and sanitising stations have been installed throughout the centre. This is the biggest single project undertaken at the Science Centre since it opened in 2002 with the entire top floor being completely transformed. The new experiences are two years in the making to ensure an exhilarating experience for everyone to enjoy. The top floor transformation forms part of a bigger project that started in 2019 to make Winchester Science Centre and STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) accessible to everyone.
