From the middle of the 18th century, the Swan was the principal coaching inn of the town. This Grade II listed building offers 22 well appointed en-suite bedrooms.
The hotel has recently been refurbished throughout including our stylish new dining area. Our bedrooms offer a warm rustic feel with impressive robust ‘Chunky Monkey’ free standing furniture made from the best reclaimed wood. There is contemporary flooring, each room being of comparable design with its own personality via colour themes and drapes using beautiful wool fabrics.
The piece de resistance is the Manor Suite. Away from the main hotel, it boasts a four poster bed, his and her hand basins and a hand crafted copper double ended freestanding roll top bath.
There are two family rooms, one with a double bed and two single beds, and one with double bed and bunk beds, and one room in the annexe offering wheelchair access and wet room. The hotel has no lift but ground floor rooms are available. Please ask on booking.
The Swan Hotel offers guests free wifi (The Cloud) with access available throughout the hotel.
The restaurant is open seven days a week for breakfast, morning & afternoon tea, lunches and dinner for both residents and non residents. Sunday lunch with a choice of three roasts is priced at £12.50 for one course.
The Swan Hotel’s below-ground function room, The Undercroft, provides a delightfully unusual setting for meetings and special occasions. With a private bar, catering and a conveniently central location it is an ideal venue for wedding receptions, parties and conferences.
The hotel has several areas for both residents and non-residents. The Snug provides a more intimate setting for coffee, cakes and conversation. The formal dining room is elegantly decorated and furnished for fine dining, and the Watercress Room is light, airy and spacious – ideal for families wishing to enjoy a get together. All rooms can also be used for functions – parties, family reunions, wedding receptions, conferences or presentations.
