There’s something about Lainston House that just makes you want to smile. Maybe it’s the beautiful heritage bricked house that greets you atop the long avenue of lime trees. Maybe it’s the smell of woodsmoke or herbs that float through the air, or the happy faces of the people that meet you here. Or maybe it is the feeling of possibility.

This historic Hampshire house dates to the 17th century with the foundations showing an earlier building dating back to medieval times, but they’re not here to stand still or stick to the script – there’s adventure waiting in the wings of this classic country house in Winchester. Walking trails, fly fishing in the Test Valley, or getting adventurous in the kitchen with our cookery school, Season – it’s all yours to play with. Their taste for adventure doesn’t stop there…

The Avenue restaurant crafts culinary delights in an elegant dining room overlooking, you guessed it, the avenue of limes. The Wellhouse serves aromatic creations uniquely cooked on woodfire and smokers, with a relaxed and rustic vibe. And our walled kitchen garden, provides not only much of the produce that appears on your plate, but also makes for a one-of-a-kind event space. Forget what you know about country house estates, Lainston House is for the explorers, the food lovers and the do it differently-ers, and it’s yours to enjoy. Bring your wildest dreams and requests, and they’ll help tick them off your bucket list.
