Join acclaimed British dramatist, screenwriter, producer and director Simon Reade at Jane Austen's House for a fascinating deep-dive into his stage adaptation of Pride and Prejudice (2009) which has been produced at Theatre Royal Bath, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Guthrie Minneapolis, Sheffield Crucible, and gone on national tour.
Simon will share his writing process and how he tackled the adaptation, as well as discussing his relationship with Jane Austen’s novels and how they can work in performance.
Simon Reade is a dramatist, director and producer, best known for his adaptations of literature for the stage and screen. He has a distinguished career in British theatre, including roles as Artistic Director of the Bristol Old Vic and Literary Manager of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and London’s Gate Theatre. His adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is published by Bloomsbury.
