Lantern Parade
Address:
Winchester Cathedral, The Close, Winchester, SO23 9LSAbout Lantern Parade
We'll update this page with information for Winchester's Lantern Parade 2026 as soon as it's announced.
The annual lantern parade returned to Winchester Cathedral in 2025, and the theme was Light, bright, and sparkling. The theme was inspired by Jane Austen’s description of Pride and Prejudice, as the city celebrated Jane’s 250th birthday in 2025.
Join Winchester Cathedral in coming together to celebrate Christmas with music, lanterns, and the Christmas Market. Parade from Winchester Cathedral through Winchester with your lanterns and light the way back to the cathedral where The Reverend Canon Dr Roland Riem, Interim Dean of Winchester Cathedral will have a prize for all winners.
Please note that registering interest is not essential for attendance but would be appreciated by Winchester Cathedral so preparations can be made for expected numbers. Arts and crafts not your thing? Don’t worry, the parade is a great event for all the family, whether you come to display your own creation, or you join just to enjoy the colourful spectacle. Lap up the atmosphere and admire the skilfully made weird and wonderful lanterns.
