About Talk: Jane Austen and the Pleasures of Spring

Join Jane Austen's House for a joyful talk celebrating spring in Jane Austen's novels, letters and life story.

As the pretty cottage garden at Jane Austen's House bursts into bloom, bluebells carpet the Chawton woods and finally you revel in spring sunshine and warmth after a long winter, you are invited to an hour of springtime revelry!

This talk will travel across Jane Austen's novels, letters and life story, covering everything from spring fashions, country walks and the Hampshire countryside, to springtime in Jane Austen's novels and themes of hope and renewal.

This event is part of the Spring Fling: Sense & Sensibility Festival at Jane Austen's House, running from 1 – 4 May 2026

Tickets: from £15
