Overview
Winchester Science Centre is the south of England’s leading science and discovery centre. It is part of the independent educational charity, Wonderseekers, who are on a mission to inspire and engage all children in science.

Host an out-of-this-world event in the UK’s largest standalone planetarium and explore two exhibition floors filled with hands-on interactives that aren’t just fun for kids! Our Winchester-based venue can host team away days, award ceremonies, gala dinners, film screenings, Christmas parties, presentations and much more.

Hire the Planetarium on its own or the whole Science Centre exclusively for your next event to gain access to the exhibition floors, break-out classrooms, Science Theatre and outdoor areas. Our outside areas overlook the beautiful South Downs and are the perfect spaces to use for summer parties or stargazing evenings.

Location
Located just three miles from central Winchester, less than two hours from central London and near the M3, there is also plenty of free parking.

Capacity
The Planetarium has a seated capacity of 168 theatre-style with a small stage, 360 digital screen and is equipped with sound, lighting, and presentation capabilities.

The science exhibits are split over two floors and have a combined standing capacity of over 1000, which includes a central presentation area (Science Live) that can be used for presentations, live demonstrations and has a mezzanine style viewing area – it’s also equipped with sound and lighting equipment. It is possible to host gala dinners for up to 250 guests in this unique space, set amongst the hands-on exhibits and Explorer:Space gallery.

The Science Theatre is located on the lower ground floor and can seat up to 160 theatre style. Black-out curtains surround this space, with staging and stage lighting which can be installed at an additional cost by the in-house team if required.

The café sits near the front entrance of the building, can seat up to 100 guests on the existing bench seating, and can be transformed into an atmospheric bar for evening events.

Key Facilities
As a science discovery centre, live science demonstrations, team workshops and presenter-led Planetarium shows can also be offered! Each charged at £250 + VAT per presenter.

Theon-site cafe can provide basic catering needs or act as your fully-stocked evening bar.  External caterers are permitted to work in the building should you require something different. An external catering fee to use the kitchen facilities may be required.
