Winchester Business Improvement District (BID) is excited to announce the return of Spooky Winch, a free, family-friendly, Halloween-themed word hunt taking place across the city from Saturday 18 October to Sunday 2 November 2025.

What is Spooky Winch?

Participants can pick up a trail sheet from The Visitor Information Centre, The Arc, or Winchester City Museum, or download one online, before setting off to track down nine hidden Halloween words displayed in local business windows. Complete the trail to claim a spooky treat and be entered into a prize draw to win a Halloween-inspired hamper.

Suzy Dierckx, Marketing and Social Media Manager at Winchester BID, said:
“We’re thrilled to bring Spooky Winch back this year. It’s a fantastic way for families to explore the city, support local businesses, and enjoy a fun outdoor activity during the half-term break.”

The event is open to all ages, and participants are encouraged to dress up and share their spooky selfies by tagging @WinchesterBID and using #SpookyWinch.
