As shops, eateries, places to stay and attractions gradually re-open following government guidance, we advise visitors to check with individual venue before you book tickets or plan your visit.

We are constantly working with our partners in the visitor industry including attractions, event organisers, eateries, retailers and accommodation providers to keep you updated as far as we can with regard to any changes that may impact on your visit in response to national guidance on COVID-19.

The priority is to reduce the spread of coronavirus, and to safeguard the health and safety of employees, residents and visitors.

Please do keep an eye on our website and social media channels for further information or contact our Visitor Information Centre by emailing tourism@winchester.gov.uk

If town centres look busy, please come back another day. Winchester is very lucky to be surrounded by lots of open countryside, so if you do need to travel to the district please think about visiting some of our quieter spots.

VisitEngland, along with the other tourist organisations of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the UK government, has launched a new industry standard mark as a way of supporting tourism businesses and providing reassurance to visitors. The industry standard is a way of letting you know which businesses have made necessary changes to their day-to-day workings, including social distancing measures and staff training.

Keep an eye out for the mark when planning your trip online.

We thank you for your understanding and support in these uncertain times. Our thoughts are with those in our community and beyond who are affected by COVID-19.
