Uncover the history of Hampshire & Isle of Wight

The Winchester Reliquary from Winchester's City Museum has been chosen as one of ten objects to tell a history of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. You can see it in the musuem throughout 2010.

The Winchester Reliquary was excavated in 1976, it is the only Anglo-Saxon reliquary of this type to have been found in this country and reflects the importance of Winchester as an ecclesiastical and artistic centre.

The list of 10 objects is part of the wider A History of the World project formed out of a unique partnership between the BBC, the British Museum and 350 museums and institutions across the country.
