Winchester High Street is home to weekly markets selling fresh produce, gifts, antiques and fashion.

Look out for the second largest farmers’ market in the UK as it brings fine local produce to the city on the second and final Sunday of each month.

The high street also hosts a weekly speciality food and produce market on a Wednesday – why not grab a freshly made crepe on the go? You’ll also find an eclectic mix of scarves, toys, books and value for money household goods at the general street markets running from Thursday through to Saturday.

And if you’re in the high street on a Sunday your visit might coincide with the Vintage & Retro Village and the Winchester Antiques & 20th Century Collectibles Market on the first Sunday of every month or the Art & Design Market (third Sunday of every month from March to December).

Winchester’s festival season now spans almost an entire year kicking off with Winchester Cocktail Week in February. As the weather begins to warm up and we start thinking of inspiration for a new wardrobe, Winchester Fashion Week comes to the rescue in April and May

The Winchester Chamber Music Festival in April/May offers a great chance to explore the breadth of Chamber Music and then from here on in the city delights its visitors with exciting arts celebrations of all kinds.

Highlights of the summer festival season include the Alresford Music Festival, Winchester Film Festival, Mayfest and Hat Fair.

As the nights close in and Autumn approaches, the Winchester Comedy Festival will keep you laughing long into the winter months.

Wine Festival Winchester is a chance for adults (no matter how much or little you know) to enjoy a feast of fabulous wines, food and other drinks in the company of married Masters of Wine and TV presenters Susie Barrie and Peter Richards.

Winchester is a must-visit destination for all those in search of an authentic Christmas experience. The Cathedral is at the heart of the festivities. The Cathedral Close is host of the much-loved Christmas Market running from late November through the festive season.

Families looking for a traditional panto should head to Theatre Royal Winchester to see Cinderella and other classic productions.

And if you’re looking to deliver your letter to Santa personally then make sure you book early to see him at Marwell Zoo along with Mother Christmas or even on board a real steam train at the Mid Hants Railway Watercress Line.
