Winchester Cathedral - Yew trees

Begin the walk in front of the cathedral doors facing the war memorial; directly behind are two rows of Yew trees, Taxus baccata.

With lifespans of up to 3,000 years, the oldest living tree in the UK is easily a yew. Yews have witnessed some monumental moments in our history.

The trees in Winchester Cathedral have witnessed some key historical moments including the wedding of Queen Mary I to Prince Philip of Spain: the most famous wedding ever to have taken place in Winchester Cathedral.
