The Cathedral Refectory is one of Winchester’s hidden gems, sheltered behind an ancient flint wall opposite the Cathedral. Its award-winning contemporary design, large terrace with Cathedral views and pretty walled garden make it a great place to meet friends for a coffee, lunch or afternoon tea.
Delicious home-cooked meals are available daily using fresh locally sourced ingredients, alongside a fabulous selection of homemade cakes and biscuits baked on-site.
Located beyond the Cathedral Gift Shop, the Refectory offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Its wide glassed front looks onto a spacious slate paved terrace with café tables and chairs. Behind the refectory is a peaceful walled garden – a green space with lawns, picnic tables and a fine willow tree, open throughout the summer (weather permitting).
Special events and cookery masterclasses are also regularly held in the Refectory Courtyard and the contemporary Paul Woodhouse Suite, with details available from the Cathedral website.
