The Handlebar Café is a community cafe and small bike workshop on the Viaduct Cycle Path at the foot of St Catherine’s Hill, south of Winchester.

Designed to look like railway carriages it sits on the old Didcot to Southampton Railway line.

It offers refreshments, basic get-you-home bike repairs, accessories and information on walks and rides around the area.

The project was created by a group of local teenagers working with the Spud Youth charity.  Spud have designed, built and own the building.

Bespoke Biking are the tenants and operate the community cafe and bike workshop.

Come and enjoy an amazing  array of gorgeous cakes, teacakes, healthy snacks as well as locally sourced sausage rolls, pies and pastries plus vegetarian and vegan options, all topped off with our triple certified coffee, tea or cold drinks.  We also stock Jude’s ice cream and much more!

We offer healthy breakfasts of porridge, yoghurts with granolas, along with our very popular bacon rolls.  All served until 11am.

The Handlebar Cafe exists to help everyone connect with each other and the beautiful environment.  Please leave the car at home and walk or cycle.

The Handlebar Cafe is situated on Garnier Road.  There is a very small, popular car park, but we advise our customers who must drive to park in St Catherine’s Park & Ride (near J10 M3).  Park as far to the left as you can, and follow the short foot/cycle path through to Garnier Road.

St Catherines’s Park & Ride Parking Rates:

  • All Day – £3.00 with coins
  • All day Smartcard rate – £2.70
  • Off-peak parking (arrival after 10.30am Monday to Friday) – £2.50 with coins
  • Arrival after 4.00pm -FREE (obtain tickets from machine)
  • Saturdays 3 hours only – £1.50 with coins

The surface of the car park and the path to the Handlebar Cafe is roughly surfaced with hoggin.  Some customers may find this a challenge.
