A range of speakers will give short talks in order to stimulate discussion on the role of women in education, both in Winchester and the wider world. They hope that this symposium will lead to further activity in highlighting the significance of women in education in Winchester and beyond who have been marginal to the historical record.

Following the symposium Dr Sue Anderson-Faithful will lead a short historical walk to a local hostelry where our conversation may be continued.

Currently proposed topics for talks include: individual women’s stories, including Sybil Campbell and Charlotte Yonge (pictured), women at King Alfred’s College, The Miss Whytes’ School in Winchester and St Swithun’s girls’ school. A full and detailed programme will be posted on the Centre for the History of Women’s Education web page at the University of Winchester.

All are welcome.
