An action-packed summer of fun awaits visitors to Fort Nelson with the return of our assault course plus a new, free interactive trail.
Children will love the challenge of the assault course – suitable for ages 5 –11.
Families can also explore the 19-acre site on top of Portsdown Hill with our free ‘Fun at the Fort’ trail. Summer activities will run daily from Wednesday 20 July to Sunday 4 September and as a national museum.
Fort Nelson is the best preserved Victorian fort of its kind, open for visitors to explore its ramparts and outdoor space as well as its main tunnel. It is also home to the national collection of arms and artillery – a museum full of treasures from days gone by.
There are lots of picnic benches around the site, and our indoor café and refreshment kiosk will be open every day for light meals, snacks and drinks.
