Meet the madcap Victorian professor and discover how new scientific ideas helped in the building of Fort Nelson. There will be fun and interactive experiments about flotation, construction and explosions.

Activities include:

The junior navvy challenge – ‘Are you as tough as the navvies who built the Fort?’

Have a go at wheelbarrow races, constructing keystone arches and loads more fun challenges. Sessions at 12 noon and 3pm – free. Suitable for ages 5 – 10

Get creative decorating your own brick and add it to the wall to build a multi-coloured Fort Nelson. Suitable for ages 3+ / £3 per child / Pay on the day. Drop-in between 10am and 4.30pm.

Dressing up clothes and Victorian games. Suitable for ages 5 – 10 Free Drop in 10am – 12noon and 1pm – 3pm

Join a 30-minute fact-packed tour of the Fort and find out about its history and the development of artillery. 11.15am and 1.30pm.

Insight talks: Fascinating facts about inventions and innovations.  1pm and 2pm
