In celebration of Jane Austen’s birthday, join the team for a unique guided tour of Jane Austen’s House and the winter exhibition, visiting scenes from six memorable winters in Jane Austen’s life and novels.
As part of a small group, you will step back in time and discover six entrancing stories from Jane Austen’s life and works, told by an expert guide, using the House itself and objects from the collection to set the scene.
Together, you will travel from the bitterly cold winter of Jane Austen’s birth to the happy January of dancing and flirting with her ‘Irish friend’ Tom Lefroy, and her first reading of Pride & Prejudice… with diversions to Persuasion and Sense & Sensibility along the way!
Throughout this special, multi-sensory tour, you will have the chance to see, hear, smell, taste and take part in moments from history.
Tours begin at 6pm, 6.30pm, 7pm, 7.30pm. Each tour will last approximately 90 minutes.
Capacity for each tour will be kept low in order to allow for the best possible experience.
Each tour will begin promptly. Please make sure you arrive in good time to join the group. Latecomers may not be admitted.
The tour will finish with a glass of mulled wine or apple juice, and mince pies, served in the Historic Kitchen. Please let us know of any dietary requirements upon booking.
