New Lunchtime concert series at Winchester Cathedral

A new Lunchtime Concert Series of emerging talent will take place at the Cathedral, in the North Transept, from 1.15pm – 1.50pm. We hope for an exciting run of performances throughout the term, with a particular emphasis on providing performance opportunities for young local diploma-level musicians. These performances will feature a wide range of young musicians from Bedale’s, Peter Symonds, St Swithun’s and Winchester College.

General admission fees apply. Seats for the lunchtime recitals are limited and are allocated on a first come first serve basis.

Tuesday 21st September – Daniel Simojoki cello*
Bach – 1st Suite and Brahms – Cello Sonata in E minor op. 38

Tuesday 28th September – Alfie Fardell piano
Works by Bach, Rameau, Debussy & Earl Wild

Tuesday 5th October – Peter Symonds College conservatoire showcase
Featuring some of Symonds’ finest instrumentalists

Tuesday 12th October – Music Scholars from Winchester College
A varied programme, including Bach’s 3rd Brandenburg Concerto

Tuesday 26th October – Shoshana Yugin-Power recorder & flute*
Works by Frescobaldi, Sammartini, Chaminade & Ibert

Tuesday 2nd November – Louisa Paterson violin*
Works by Bach, Beethoven, Elgar & Kreisler

Summer lunchtime series to run from 19th April to 26th July 2022
* – piano accompanist and lunchtime recitals organiser, Nick Salwey

The series is run by the Head of Piano at Winchester College, Dr Nick Salwey, who is keen to hear from any prospective performers.
