Jane Austen had a large, clever, affectionate family. From her dear sister Cassandra to her six brothers, numerous uncles and aunts, and in time over thirty nephews and nieces, there were plenty of relatives around to inspire her, get on her nerves, swap stories with, gossip about, write to and visit.
Join Jane Austen’s House in the Family Room for a unique, intimate ‘salon’ in which you will get to know Jane Austen’s family intimately! Beginning with their portraits, we will build up a picture of the family, share our favourite stories about family members and examine where they aided or inspired Jane in her writing.
Please note, this event ticket does not include House entry. If you wish to visit the House before or after the talk, please ensure that you book tickets separately.
