The Danish choir Vox Humana under the leadership of conductor and composer Jakob Høgsbro will be giving a concert at the Hospital of St Cross. The choir will be joined by the internationally renowned Swedish bass player Anders Jormin. Vox Humana may be best known for their beautiful renditions of Nordic music, but the theme of the concert at St Cross is an entirely new suite of songs based on English poetry from several centuries, ranging from Shakespeare to Lord Byron, Dylan Thomas, Emily Dickinson and rap vocalist Mike Skinner. Most of the songs are composed by Jakob Høgsbro who decided to name the work “Hope – a Suite of Songs in English”. Jakob Høgsbro Jakob Høgsbro graduated as a saxophonist and conductor from the Royal Danish Academy of Music and continued his education in New York. He is the composer of a number of choral and other works and has recorded a large number of albums. He has conducted several choirs, including the Danish National Girls’ Choir of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation. Anders Jormin With his empathetic and poetic style, Jormin’s bass playing captivates all audiences. He is a highly respected performer on the international concert scene and has recorded and toured with many of the legends in jazz.
