Traditional pub grub to enjoy in comfort at home

We all love to sit by a roaring log fire in a cosy country pub at this time of year enjoying some seasonal delights. If you’re lucky enough to have the fire then great – but we can certainly help you out with the warming pub cuisine.

Sample flavours of the best quality local and seasonal produce from the The Fox in Crawley. They will be offering takeaways from Wednesday to Sunday – look out for their menus on social media and also via their online ordering. You can also order groceries and fresh fish will be available to order for collection on Fridays after 2pm.

For a taste of the South Downs, home-cooked meals from The Ship Inn at Owslebury including pizzas, burgers, pies, pasta dishes and fish and chips are available to collect or can be delivered to you (within a 5-mile radius). This boutique country pub in the heart of the South Downs National Park has a well-established reputation for creative modern British food, following the seasons. Ingredients that are not grown on site in the kitchen garden are sourced from local farms.

The Cricketers in Alresford is serving up takeaways from Wednesday to Saturday from 5pm – 8pm. For a real taste of Winchester pick the local watercress, pork and ale sausages. There’s also a great kids menu too. Check out their Sunday takeaway menu too.

Get creative in your own kitchen with The Chesil Rectory at home – each course is brimming with top quality seasonal ingredients from the Chesil’s favourite foraging heroes and suppliers. All dishes are freshly prepared by their fantastic Chefs so that all you need to do is finish and assemble at home.

It’s now possible to pre-order craft cocktails and speciality coffees for collection at certain times from the Cabinet Rooms in Winchester – check their website for details and to order:  Take a look at their online shop too as you might find some great gift ideas for Christmas – we just love their ISO wine glasses which are great for tasting wines and spirits at home.  Recognised internationally as the standard design for tasting – the shape allows you to swirl your wines and spirits, while the rim allows you to get your nose right in to appreciate the aromas.

The Tosc-mobile is out and about doing local deliveries of vinous delights most days at the moment. Get your orders in via the Toscanaccio website or via email/phone to experience high quality wines and deli produce from Italy brought to you by Winchester’s Italian Independent Wine specialist based in Parchment Street.
