It’s there at the flick of a switch. But what do we really know about electricity?

Join the CEO of our noughties technology company, Sparks Innovation Corporation, as they delve into the fascinating world of electricity. Watch as static electricity and currents are brought to life through fun experiments. Discover more about how electricity is made with the atom balancer demo.

🚆 All aboard for the Diesel Gala at The Watercress Line

The Diesel Gala will see the railway operated by a home fleet of diesel locomotives, showcasing the varied types of diesel locomotives produced during the 1960’s modernisation plan.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of a weekend of heritage diesel traction over a sleepy graded line.

Foodies Festival (dubbed “Gastro-Glasto”) is the biggest touring gourmet food festival in the UK, featuring MasterChef champions, stars of Great British Bake-Off and Michelin starred chefs. A legion of chefs from some of the regions best restaurants will also join the impressive line-up, giving the festival a distinctive local flavour.

At the three-day festival, visitors can enjoy the Chefs’ Theatre, Cake & Bake Theatre, Drinks Theatre, Shopping Village with award winning artisan producers, Street Food Avenue, Feasting Tent, Cook Book Shop, Kids’ Cookery School, fairground, live music stage and family-friendly areas with activities for children. Over 150 exhibitors will showcase their produce, providing festival-goers with a fantastic opportunity to sample the best of the region – and to try a huge selection of delicious food and drink from around the world.

Celebrate summer with the team! On this special day, just ahead of the anniversary of Jane Austen’s death,  Jane Austen’s House want you to honour their favourite authoress by dressing up in your finest Regency regalia. They will be strutting our stuff in the House, preening on the lawn, and promenading in the shrubberies. Elegance will prevail!

This year’s Dress Up Day will be hosted by Dr Serena Dyer, dress historian and expert in historical dress recreation. From 11am-2pm, Serena will be leading the way in recreating gorgeous Regency style, offering surgeries on your own Regency outfits, and showcasing her own collection of handmade gowns. Come along to learn, enjoy and be inspired – all in the name of fun, fashion and dress history!
