Outside theatre and story time at Gilbert White’s House and Gardens

Escape to the beautiful surroundings of Gilbert White’s House and Gardens and enjoy some of our favourite childhood stories brought to life.

Meet Red Riding Hood and three Funky Pigs for a fabulous modern twist on two classic fairy tales packed with songs and fun for all the family on Friday 13 August, or join Alice in her adventures in Wonderland and take a trip down the rabbit hole with a whole host of colourful characters on Sunday 22 August.

Visit between Tuesday 24 – Thursday 26 August for an interactive storytelling session based on stories about the museum. Find clues and discover the plants used on the Zig Zag Path, map the journey of Frank Oates and identify his mystery finds, or take on the mapping mission for penguin eggs.

Days out with Thomas at the Watercress Line

Join Thomas & Friends for a day of family fun at The Watercress Line from Saturday 7 – Sunday 15 August. Take a train ride with Thomas, meet some of your favourite characters and join Sodor Station Sweepers Rusty & Dusty for a trainload of excitement with an outdoor entertainment show with The Fat Controller, Diesel, Toad & Duck. Enjoy children’s vintage fairground rides and collect your passport of adventures full of activities to delight your little ones.

Become an underwater agent at the Winchester Science Centre

Discover some of the secrets of the deep blue sea at the Winchester Science Centre from Saturday 17 July – Sunday 19 September. Go on a splash-tastic journey below the surface of the world’s oceans and discover what sounds can be found. Help uncover the mysteries of the deep and explore how sound travels underwater. Show times are between 10.30am and 2.30pm with sound sensory suitable shows available.

From 24 July – 5 September join Fort Nelson for a summer full of fun. Fire your little ones’ imaginations with barrel-loads of fun activities for all the family. Take on the Junior Assault Course, discover the big guns on display and explore the tunnels.

Discover the Tales of Peter Rabbit at Winchester Cathedral

On Friday 23 July join Quantum Theatre in the Deanery River Garden at Winchester Cathedral as they bring their lively brand of comedy, music and magic to this delightful new adaptation of the Beatrix Potter Tales. Explore inside the cathedral and discover the children’s trail with bones, bodies, beasts and baddies around every corner.
