Welcome to Two Hoots Campsite. This is a quiet adult only 1½-acre level grass site nestled in the beautiful Hampshire countryside, less than a mile from the famous Watercress Steam Railway, 4 miles from the quaint Georgian town of Alresford, 11 miles from Winchester and 12 from Petersfield. It’s a great base for exploring Hampshire’s many attractions. Booking essential.

This small friendly site is in a pretty rural setting and is lined from the lane with a bluebell copse. It has open views across grassland to the front with woods beyond and beautiful far reaching views. Two Hoots has the first Eco Friendly Camping Pods in Hampshire!

With a gravel roadway, hard-standings for winter pitches, further electric hook-ups and a laundry room for podders and tents.

Two Hoots is currently run under the Camping and Caravanning Club with 5 caravan/motor home pitches and limited tent pitches. Non-members may join on site. Membership is not required for the three camping pods as they are seperate from the club and tucked into the copse adjacent to the camping field.

The site is well maintained; the grass is kept short and the site clean. We do not permit ball games on site, keeping noise to a min & relaxation to a maximum. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on site in your own tent or vans & in 1 of the three pods, however, we do ask that they are booked in and that you aware of site rules.

For Touring vehicles
We have the usual facilities of fresh water, Elsan and waste disposal. You will require your own toilet and shower washing facilities.

For Podders and Tents only (as they have no facilities)
WC's with small sink, shower, combined WC and shower with disabled access. Sink with hot and cold water for washing up, space in fridge, kettle and microwave.
There is also a coin-operated washing machine and tumble dryer with disabled access. Awning groundsheets are not permitted.

Alternative transport:
Steam train, Ropley railway station (approx 1 mile)
The local Cango bus service, limited but bookable timetable with a stop just outside the gate. Main bus stops aprox 1.2 miles from the site. Local taxis on site noticeboard.

In the small picturesque Georgian town of Alresford, you will find shops for all your necessaries, plus take aways, pubs and pavement cafes and boutiques.

There are endless activities in the region to suit all.

Woodland walks, organised rambles, guided walks, cycle routes, local cycle hire, sports centres. Driving experiences, tank and quad biking etc. Bird watching - we have a multitude of wildlife and numerous species of birds in the area.
The Fulling Mill, Gardens, Country Houses including Jane Austens house, Fly Fishing, Golf, Horseriding, Go-Karting, Milestones Museum, Farms, Rare Breeds, Birdworld, Country Parks, Hot Air Balloon Flights, Marwell Zoo, Stonehenge, Old Winchester Hill Nature Reserve, Bird watching, Motor Museum, New Forest, Exbury Gardens, and much much more.

Road Directions

By car via A31 only! We are situated on a single width country lane with few passing places, because of this we have arrival & departure times so that we don’t have passing of vehicles to & from the site at the same time. Arrival time after 1.30pm, departure time before 12 noon unless agreed otherwise.

On A31 Winchester-Alton road, head for Ropley not Bighton. Take Bighton Hill at small crossroads from A31 signposted Bighton, over small bridge, sharp right then left bend. Take 2nd drive on left as road bends to right.

If travelling from Alton, at end of dual carriageway at North Street, take 2nd right at crossroads signposted Bighton Hill and continue as above.

Directions from A34 heading towards Winchester:
At the end of the A34 (Jun 9 of M3) take 2nd exit from roundabout onto A272 Spitfire Link (signposted A31 Alton). Stay on A31 (signposted Alton & Ropley). ** Take Bighton Hill at small crossroads from A31 signposted Bighton, over small bridge, sharp right then left bend. Take 2nd drive on left as road bends to right.

Directions from M3:
Exit at Jun 9 if heading south or Jun 10 if heading north. Take A31 signposted Alton & Ropley follow from ** above.

Directions from A3:
Exit A3 at Petersfield services take Winchester Rd towards Petersfield at roundabout take 1st exit onto Bell Hill. At T junction TR onto A32 then immediately TL onto the Petersfield Rd, at T-junction TR onto A31 The Dean. Follow from ** above.

Public Transport Directions

Take X64 bus to The Dean, Ropley (A31 approx 1 mile walk from here, uphill). With your back towards the shop turn left. Turn left at crossroads signposted Bighton Hill, over small railway bridge, sharp right then left bend. Take 2nd drive on left as road bends to the right.
