Set in 450 acres of gorgeous Hampshire countryside, on the green and leafy Sparsholt College campus, The Wessex Conference Centre offers a tranquil and beautiful setting for your stay. Despite its rural setting, however, it is just 10 minutes from the historic, cathedral city of Winchester, with excellent road and rail links. It has a well deserved reputation as a quality venue, offering an unbeatable combination of value for money, high standards of service and plenty of free parking.
Three student accommodation buildings, opened in 1998, provide a total of 96 single en suite bedrooms and a number of communal lounge areas. There are also three ground floor twin rooms with en suite facilities. The Wessex Conference Centre is DDA compliant.
The bedrooms are all centrally heated and comfortably furnished with tea and coffee making facilities, fresh linen and towels. All accommodation is centrally located and within a couple of minutes’ walking distance of other on-site facilities which include the dining room, coffee shop, licensed bar, games room, small shops and car parks.
Walking and cycling really do provide endless opportunities for exploring what we think is one of England’s most beautiful counties and The Wessex Conference Centre is the ideal starting off point for rambling and cycling groups, placed as it is within easy reach of Hampshire’s many walking and cycling routes. Take time to explore such scenic paths as the Test Way, the Itchen Way, the Wayfarer’s Walk, St Swithun’s Way or the Three Downs Link either on foot or by bike – or for the adventurous, by horse.
All this exercise will mean keen appetites will need to be provided for – so as well as a full English breakfast, excellent packed lunches can be provided and home-cooked food can be arranged for hungry explorers in the evenings. There are some excellent pubs in the area too which may need checking out!
If you wish to take a break from walking but would still like to exercise, there are alternatives on campus; tennis and squash courts as well as extensive and well-kept grounds for outdoor games such as football or softball, and there’s an indoor sports hall for when the weather is inclement.
The Wessex Conference Centre is able to offer a wide range of residential packages to suit all requirements from bed and breakfast to full board. Groups are especially welcome and a discount can be negotiated for groups of 15 and over.
