Lainston is a detached bungalow in a small close. We run our bed and breakfast as part of our home. Our surroundings are quiet with plenty of off-road parking. Our large garden is bordered by tall trees so we feel we are living in a grand park with views over leafy Winchester from our doorstep.
We are very happy to accommodate single guests, as well as couples and groups.

We have 3 rooms, all ground floor, for up to six people.
• Twin room, (two single beds), with own private bathroom and shower.
• Room with double bed and own adjoining large bathroom, with bath and separate shower.
• Room with en suite shower and king size double bed.

All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities and digital TV.
We offer a full English breakfast, with free-range eggs or a light breakfast including vegetarian.

Buses to the city centre are just five minutes’ walk away with a frequent service, Mon – Sat, and hourly on Sundays . The journey to the city centre takes just 10 minutes.

Shops, including supermarket, pharmacy, bank and cash machine are six minutes’ walk. There are also three take away food shops and an Indian restaurant! A pub with food is 15 minutes’ walk away.

We have many original and interesting paintings on our walls and the art studio may be viewed on request. As professional musicians too, we can offer a little light cello music for any romantically- inclined guests!

There is very good walking and cycling, including miles off-road, direct from the house. We welcome muddy boots and have plenty of undercover storage for bicycles. We can also dry your clothes. The Clarendon Way long distance walk is 10 minutes’ walk up the lane, where there is open countryside.

Between us we speak good French and German. Most credit cards are accepted.
Families with babies, or children aged 5 or over are very welcome, but our home is not suitable for toddlers.
We have guests from all over the world and enjoy welcoming everyone.

Road Directions

Lainston B & B is on the north west side of Winchester off the Stockbridge Rd just over a mile from the city centre. From the shops in Weeke on Stoney Lane, turn off the Stockbridge Rd into Dean Lane at the pedestrian lights. Lainston Close is second on the right.
