A 4 star self catering cottage ideally placed to explore Winchester, South Downs National Park and everything Hampshire has to offer.

A two-bedroomed cottage in the grounds of the owners' house, with spacious secluded garden and private parking. A beautiful rural situation adjoining the River Itchen. Walks direct from the door through the downlands or along the river. Only 5 minutes from Winchester with good transport links by road, rail or bus. Local pubs within easy walking distance and the owners are always happy to book a table for you in one of the many restaurants in Winchester. Several take-aways will deliver to the cottage.

It is well positioned for exploring the area. The New Forest, Portsmouth, Salisbury, Southampton and the Isle of Wight are easily reached. Many local attractions are linked on the website.
The cottage is open all year, fully central heated, all linens included, welcome food pack and access to wireless internet connection. Mobile reception is also good in this area.

Downstairs: this consists of one large open plan room with kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen is fitted with gas cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave. There is a dining table and chairs, two sofas and a wood-burning stove. There is a television with freeview, DVD & CD player.
Stairway and Landing: beautiful views of the garden and river. Deer are often seen in the morning mist.
Upstairs:
Bedroom 1: King size bed, wardrobe, bedside cupboards, dressing table and mirror.
Bedroom 2: Twin beds, wardrobe and chest of drawers. A cot or put you up bed can be put in this room for an extra child.
Bathroom: Full bath with shower attachment and basin set in large vanity unit.

Shopping in the area:
Village shop in Twyford, which provides all the basics, a coffee shop and delicatessen.
Sainsburys - large supermarket, 2 miles away.
Winchester - Cathedral city with shopping.

Road Directions

From Winchester centre: follow one way system to the top of High Street, turn left at traffic lights into Southgate Street and follow this road out of town via St Cross B3335. Follow signs for Twyford, B3335, you will pass under the motorway, M3 junction 11. Do not follow Shawford at this stage - follow directions below.
From M3: exit M3 at junction 11 and follow sighs for Twyford B3335. After 1 mile, in Twyford turn right at the traffice lights signed for Shawford. Follow the road into Shawford; in 1/2 mile you will see a railway bridge in front of you and The Bridge pub on your right. Turn right into Bridge Lane, after pub and before the railway bridge. At the end of the road you will see a tarmac drive and gate posts, Kingsmere Acres. We are the last house, Kingsmere Cottage is on your rigfht.

Public Transport Directions

Trains: Shawford station (London mainline) 5 minutes' walk. Hourly trains to Winchester (4 minutes), Southampton airport (10 minutes) and London (1 hr 5 mins).
Buses: Bus route Blue Star no. 1 to Winchester and Southampton.
Taxi: 10 - 15 minutes from Winchester station.
