Cheriton House

Cheriton House is a large family house on the corner of Cheriton Road and Fordington Road in the Fulflood district of Winchester, just west of the city centre. It is 10 minutes walk from the train station and 15 minutes walk from the High Street. There is a bus service every 15 minutes (Monday – Saturday) to the city centre running from Stockbridge Road, just 3 minutes walk, hourly on a Sunday. There is also an hourly bus service going to the hospital from outside the house. All major roads serving Winchester can be reached without crossing the congested centre. Visitor parking is provided in a quiet street alongside the house. Within a few minutes walk are two pubs (one serving meals and much used by locals) and a row of shops which includes a newsmarket, hairdresser, dry-cleaner, two take-aways and an off licence.

WE let two rooms and live in the rest of this five bed roomed house. Both the guests’ rooms have been recently refurbished. The double room has a double and a single bed. Both rooms have a wash basin, colour TV, radio, tea and coffee making facilities and a hairdryer. They have exclusive use of the bathroom/shower and (separate) toilet, directly opposite across the landing. An iron and ironing board are available on request.

We are proud of our freshly cooked full English breakfast available from 0745. If an earlier breakfast is required, continental is available on request from 0730.

Some information on local attractions is placed in each room, including a map of the city. We can help with information about the wider Wessex area and provide maps, suggested walks, beauty spots etc on request.

Our aim is to make our guest’s stay with us as enjoyable as possible, and we are encouraged by the numbers of those who come back for more!

Road Directions

From A34 follow signs to Winchester towards centre. On passing 30mph signs take first turning right into Bereweeke Road. Follow until mini-roundabout and go go straight across into Cheriton Road. Pass Westgate School on the right, Cheriton House is third on the right.
From city centre, follow signs to Stockbridge, turn left into Fordington Rd and right into Cheriton Rd. House is first on left.

Public Transport Directions

From town or railway station, buses No. 1 or 68, both stagecoach (NOT SOLENT) buses.
No.1 – destination Harestock, No.68 bus – destination Stockbridge/Salisbury.
Alight at Western Road, walk forward to Fordington Road, walk up Fordington to first crossroad. Cheriton House (No. 61) is on the corner of Cheriton Road and Fordington Avenue (3 minutes)

Also from town or rail station, stagecoach bus No. 4 – destination Teg Down.
Alight at Westgate School and walk back down Cheriton Road (2 minutes)
