Winchester is historic in nature, and streets can be narrow or uneven. Winchester City Centre can be congested at peak times and particularly during major events for which you can check event details on our What's On page.
Winchester is situated on a hill that runs from west to east along a pedestrianised High Street. Some of the routes within the city centre are therefore quite steep, and they are cobbled in places. The High Street is being refurbished throughout 2010 which means there will be extra obstacles to negociate: the end result, however, wiill be a beautiful, smooth and easy-to-navigate street.
Winchester Tourism and Shopmobility have devised a trail to help wheelchair users to see the historic city. Click here to request a copy of the trail or download a PDF version (713KB).
