Winchester College

Founded in 1382, Winchester College is believed to be the oldest continuously running school in the country. Our guided tours concentrate on the medieval heart of the College and include Chamber Court; the 14th century Gothic Chapel, with one of the earliest examples of a wooden vaulted roof; College Hall, the original Scholars' dining room; School, the seventeenth century redbrick schoolroom and the original medieval cloister.

Open: For individuals and small groups, walk-in tours lasting approximately one hour are available all year except Christmas and New Year on:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday: 10:45am, 12 noon, 2:15pm & 3:30pm.

Tuesday, Thursday: 10:45am, 12noon

Sunday: 2:15pm and 3:30pm

No tours available:

Saturday 4th February - 10:45am and 12noon

Saturday 7th April - 10:45am and 12noon
Saturday 14th April
Sunday 29th April - Sunday 6th May inclusive

Group tours for parties of 10 or more must be booked at least one month in advance.

There is limited wheelchair access.

Road Directions

Follow signs to city centre car parking and walk through Cathedral Close to St Swithun’s Street, turn left under Kingsgate Arch and bear left. The College is on the right of College Street.
