Type: Bed & Breakfast

29 Christchurch Road is a Regency style family home situated in the quiet area of St Cross in southern Winchester, 10 minutes walk to the Cathedral and city centre, Crown Courts, Royal Hants County Hospital, Winchester College and the University.

Olivia Fetherston-Dilke offers comfortable rooms, delicious breakfasts and convenient on street parking with permits supplied on arrival.

The Telegraph newspaper in 2011 recommended 29 Christchurch Road as one of the best 10 B&Bs in Great Britain and Irleand writing that "she is very friendly, knows the city well and serves a fine breakfast".

There are three bedrooms: a double en-suite, a twin en-suite and a single (with a 4' bed) with a private bathroom. All the rooms have colour TV, alarm clocks, free wireless internet access and tea and coffee making facilities and a desk.

The bedrooms are light and airy, well decorated with good quality beds and bedding, hair dryer and a tray with fairtrade tea, coffee, hot chocolate and herbal teas. The rooms are carpeted and the sash windows are double glazed so in winter the rooms are warm but the heating can be adjusted with a thermostatic valve.

Winchester is packed with historic buildings, museums, family attractions and tranquil green spaces including the water meadows. Places to visit include the Cathedral, St Cross Hospital founded by Henry de Blois in 1130, Winchester College which is one of the country's most prestigious schools and was founded in 1382, INTECH which houses the UK's largest planetarium and the Arthurian Round Table which hangs in the Great Hall, the only remaining part of Winchester Castle.

Winchester has many successful independent shops. It holds an annual Christmas Market which includes an outdoor ice rink. Winchester Farmers' Market is held every 2nd and last Sunday of each month and is the largest in England. There is a theatre and a cinema in the city. There are many good restaurants and pubs.

The city is surrounded by beautiful countryside which is home to several golf courses and excellent fishing. To the south west, and only 30 minutes drive, lies the New Forest National Park, a wide expanse of woodland and home to many wild ponies. Within easy reach are several National Trust houses including Hinton Ampner, Mottisfont Abbey, The Vyne and also other houses including Jane Austen's home at Chawton, Beaulieu and Gilbert White's House and the Oates Museum in Selbourne.

Winchester is an excellent location for walking, whether walking the South Downs Way, the Clarendon Way or just along the River Itchen.
