The Chesil Rectory has achieved the highest restaurant rating in Winchester by the brand new Which? Good Food Guide 2010.
The inspectors noted the restaurants departure away from formal fine dining and praised its good value for money, delicious menu and the new accessible and relaxed approach to cooking and service.
Head Chef, Damian Brown, formerly Head Chef at Fortnum & Mason, was singled out for his "classical cooking skills and for his use of high quality ingredients."
The accolade follows last months news that the historic city centre restaurant had also just been given a much coveted 2 AA rosette rating.
Owner Mark Dodd enthused "The whole team is delighted. Since opening a year ago, we have offered great quality food and value for money. We would like to thank all our customers, suppliers and staff for helping us to achieve such success within our first year."
Mark Dodd and a group of friends with a wealth of restaurant experience re- opened The Chesil Rectory in October 2009, transforming it into a stylish, relaxed restaurant with the aim of offering simple, delicious British classics at reasonable prices.
All are stakeholders making the venture especially unique; an independent family- style business is a rarity amongst the ever- growing big chains now found in Winchesters high street.
