Annual Exhibition by Winchester Art Club

10 September 2010

The latest exhibition in City Space at the Winchester Discovery Centre features paintings, drawings and sculpture by members of the Winchester Art Club. This free annual exhibition is always a popular and colourful event, attracting considerable local interest and support. This year the exhibition runs from Saturday 11th September until Sunday 3rd October.   his Worshipful, Chris Pines.
Winchester Art Club was founded in 1919 and developed from the Winchester Fine Arts Society which had existed since 1888. The objective of the Club is to encourage the practice of fine arts in Winchester, particularly among those who paint as a hobby. Each year club members, who range from complete beginners to experienced artists, submit their work for judging. The best are selected for inclusion in the annual exhibition, now in its third year in City Space.
Mark Barden, Exhibitions Officer at Winchester City Council Museums said
“If you have ever had the urge to pick up a brush or pencil, then why not come along to City Space and be inspired. Members of the Winchester Art Club will be on hand to talk about their events and activities and each Saturday afternoon during the exhibition they will demonstrate some of the techniques used to produce their work.”

The exhibition opens on Saturday 11th September and runs until Sunday 3th October.
City Space opening times: Monday – Friday 10am – 6pm, Saturday 10am – 5pm, Sunday 11am – 4p

Admission is free.
