King Alf lines up some royal prizes for WINchester Week

Winchester’s popular social media celebrity, King Alf, is treating his Facebook fans to a week of competitions where users will have the opportunity put their Winchester knowledge to the test to win some exclusive Winchester prices.

Launching on 13 September, WINchester week consists of seven competitions each themed around a different area or attraction in Winchester.  To enter, Facebook users simply need to become a Fan of King Alf and follow his updates throughout the week.

Prizes include a once in a lifetime opportunity of firing a gun at Fort Nelson, free theatre tickets, and a luxurious overnight stay in Norton Park Hotel with supper included.

Cllr Dominic Hiscock, Winchester City Council's Portfolio Holder for Economic Prosperity said:
“Following the recent Hantsweb Award win and Travolution Best Use of Social Media Award short-listing, my tourism colleagues are keeping the momentum up to build numbers of new visitors to the district. King Alf has an extraordinarily loyal following in the Twittersphere – with followers actually meeting up to create snow sculptures, and there are even reports of a cape being knitted for him. It’s hoped that this new push will encourage people to sign up to the parallel Facebook page for a chance to win some very special prizes.”
