River Cottage Canteen Winchester is located in the stunningly converted grade two listed Abbey Mill building in Abbey Mill Gardens just off the Broadway in Winchester city centre.

The Canteen offers a combination of freshly prepared seasonal, local, organic and wild food, on a regularly changing menu, in the relaxed ambience of the restaurant. There is a separate bar area offering a selection of local cider, beer, River Cottage seasonal cocktails, coffees, cakes and snacks throughout the day and evening time.

Monday to Friday 11am – 10.30pm

Saturday 10am – 10.30pm

Sunday 10am – 4pm

By Public Transport: We encourage our staff & guests to travel to the canteen by foot, bike, public transport, or car share where possible.

The Canteen is situated in Abbey Gardens, which are accessed via The Broadway. There are bike racks outside Abbey Gardens & the Guildhall - 2 Min walk from Canteen We are approximately 15 minutes’ walk from Winchester Train Station and approximately 5 minutes’ walk from the bus station.

There are 3 park & rides in Winchester. 

There is a taxi rank outside Winchester Guildhall on The Broadway, just a 2 minute walk from the Canteen.

By road: The nearest car park is a 5 minute walk away, Chesil Street. Postcode SO23 0HU (charges apply Monday - Saturday: 8am - 6pm)

All dishes are prepared from scratch with the highest quality local ingredients at River Cottage Canteen. As such, we can cater for many dietary requirements, almost all of the menu can be created as gluten free and we have a wide range of vegetarian and vegan options, including our monthly Veg Out night on the last Tuesday of every month.

Access via slope into the building then a lift to both levels
