The Winchester-based Friends of King Alfred Buses (FoKAB) has confirmed details of its Original King Alfred Running Day in and around the City on Bank Holiday Monday 7th May 2018. Around ten traditional King Alfred buses ranging in age from 87 years old to a mere 48 will be recreating the old days on Bank Holiday Monday 7th May 2018, in company with some 20 or so buses from other local operators. Free bus services will operate based on Winchester Broadway between approximately 09:30 and 17:00 covering most of the traditional King Alfred routes plus those of neighbouring historic companies such as Aldershot & District and Hants & Dorset. There will be the usual transport bazaar in Winchester Guildhall, open between 10:00 and 16:00, whilst at the Cattle Market Car Park there will be a static display of historic vehicles with a frequent free bus service to and from central Winchester. Plentiful car parking will be available at St Catherine’s Park & Ride with frequent free buses to/from the city centre
