Garden Marquee
Make the most of the Cathedral’s beautiful setting with the Garden Marquee which we keep up permanently throughout the year. Being outside and surrounded by ancient buildings, mature trees and elegant planting will make your event something truly special. This is a lovely walled garden with an orchard at the rear of the Cathedral Refectory. An ivory marquee with lining, carpet and chandeliers is included in the price. The space is ideal for dinners, receptions and summer parties. We also have a number of stunning lawn areas available to hire for a bespoke marquee. The areas include the Deanery Garden and the Inner and Outer Close areas.
The Paul Woodhouse Suite
The perfect blend of traditional and contemporary, the airy Paul Woodhouse Suite features a vaulted ceiling, pale wooden floor and glassed walls. The suite is located in the Visitors’ Centre, and has a private terrace with wonderful Cathedral views. This flexible room is perfect for conferences and meetings, corporate entertaining, weddings and other parties. It can be set out theatre style, cabaret style or more informally for parties.
The Refectory
This space is available to hire in the evening once the daytime guests have left. It combines features of both modern and traditional architecture and offers a great space for receptions and parties. The space is often used in conjunction with other areas as the after dinner dancing area and we can also provide a bar.
The Wessex Centre
The Wessex Centre is located in the beautiful Cathedral’s Inner Close and has a fresh and modern feel. Built using sustainable materials, including clay tiles for the sweeping roof and the oak framed structure is made from timber sourced from local, wind-blown trees. The venue also offers a paved patio area at the entrance and garden to the rear for guests to enjoy socialising outside and take in the stunning views of Winchester Cathedral.
The Undercroft
Once part of the medieval monastery’s cloisters, this beautiful room features a 13th century vaulted ceiling and pillars, polished wooden floors and a stone fireplace. Looking out over the peaceful Inner Close, it’s a perfect setting for smaller meetings and gatherings.
