Jane Austen’s Novels – Regulated and Checked by Religion

'Regulated and Checked by Religion’ is a quotation from Sense & Sensibility (Vol iii Ch. 10) when Marianne declares that any remembrance of Willoughby shall be regulated and checked by religion. The talk, by Revd Michael Kenning, retired Rector of Steventon, will aim to show how important a role the Christian faith played in Jane’s life and how Christian principles and teachings were foundational for her work as a novelist.
