Road: Conveniently located just off Junctions 9 and 10 of the M3. Also accessible via the A34 from Newbury and Oxford.

Ferry: Winchester is a 40-minute drive from Portsmouth's ferry port.
Air: Winchester is just 15 minutes by road or rail from Southampton Airport. London Heathrow is 50 miles away and London Gatwick 72 miles away.
Coach: There are regular coach services from London, Heathrow and Oxford. The coach stop is in the heart of the city.

A refurbishment of Winchester High Street will be taking place. The High Street will remain open for business during the works, and access to all buildings will be maintained.

Three railway bridges within the Winchester district will be completely replaced in 2010. As a result, the roads at the three bridge locations will be closed for significant periods.
Local residents and businesses will be notified individually and advanced warning signs will be placed at each site several weeks before the closures.
Diversion routes for motorists will be signed and provision will be made to maintain pedestrian and cycle access through the sites at all times, subject to heath and safety requirements during crane operations, etc.
The remaining road closures are as follows:
Andover Road, Winchester - between Boscobel Road and Worthy Lane from 12 April to 12 July 2010
Stoke Charity Road, Kings Worthy - between Cloverbank and Alresford Drove from 6 April to 30 July 2010

Winchester operates a park and ride system which is easily accessible from the M3 motorway and provides frequent bus services to all main areas of Winchester City Centre. For more information including timetables, routes and prices please click here.
Please be aware the cost for the park and ride service is per car and not per person and therefore bus passes cannot be used for travel.
Winchester is a compact and pedestrian friendly city that's just perfect for exploring on foot. And with excellent coach and rail links there's no real need to bring your car at all.
