Type: Bed & Breakfast

With stunning views of the cathedral, this Grade II listed 18th-century inn in the heart of historic Winchester is the perfect place to meet for lunch, supper or a drink in a stylish, smoke-free environment.

Excellent real ales and fine wines; delicious food in the relaxed, informal surroundings of our award-winning restaurant; oak beams and a roaring log fire in winter; a sunny, flower-filled terrace in summer; and friendly, helpful staff.

We're very proud of our spacious, well-appointed guest rooms - newly opened in autumn 2006, they offer a superior level of comfort in stylish and sophisticated yet warm and restful surroundings. Taking the unique period features of each room into consideration, the design is an elegant mix of antique and contemporary - finely crafted Arts and Crafts, Georgian and Art Deco furniture sits alongside the sumptuous fabrics and wallpapers of Osborne and Little, Zimmer and Rohde, Nina Campbell and Zoffany. Close the door, pour a drink and relax...

We offer double and twin rooms of standard and superior categories, as well as a luxurious top-floor suite which commands breathtaking views of the cathedral.

All rooms feature en-suite bathrooms with power showers, deep pocket-sprung mattresses, crisp Egyptian cotton bed linen, LCD TVs, mini-bars, room safes, and tea and coffee-making facilities. A full breakfast service is available either in guests' rooms or in the restaurant, according to preference.

The Old Vine's reputation is built on the quality of its food, and our kitchen has won an award for both this and its use of local produce. Our standard menu consists of quality British and continental cuisine, ranging from honest, tasty pub food to more elaborate fare, complemented by a daily specials chalkboard featuring fresh fish and seasonal dishes.

Our restaurant can comfortably accommodate groups of up to six guests on one table; for larger parties, or to make a booking, please contact us.

Elegant contemporary design enhances the charming period features of our cosy bar. Relax over a glass of fine wine or a pint of real ale (Ringwood Best and Timothy Taylor Landlord always available; one guest ale on rotation), and if you're feeling peckish, a bar menu as well as nuts, olives and crisps are on offer.

In summer, our flower-filled terrace is available for al fresco food and drink; should the British weather do its worst, there is a glazed and heated patio area for those who like to enjoy the fresh air while keeping warm and dry!

We look forward to welcoming you to Winchester and making your stay a memorable one.
